Lindsay M. - Within 6 months, over 25 pounds melted away as I took charge of my life again

Three years ago I gained 30 pounds while struggling with a thyroid disorder and was determined to make physical fitness a priority. Time elapsed and results never materialized, but I continued to exercise due to a vague sense of obligation. My workouts were boring and sporadic— jog leisurely; lift weights randomly; crank out some crunches; park it on the couch. Eventually, I had to be coaxed by my Golden Retriever just to go for a run. Monotony overwhelmed my daily routine and I was merely going through the motions. That attitude of complacency bled into all areas of my life as I drifted day to day.

Muay Thai changed everything. After attending a Muay Thai Tournament at Black Belt USA, I made the decision to take action and came in for my complimentary, introductory class. I was hooked immediately! I couldn’t even sleep that night because I was so excited to start training. Master King, Dr. King, the leadership group, and other students were eager to help me learn techniques and offer encouragement. Everyone at Black Belt USA was friendly, welcoming, and motivating. Each workout left me rejuvenated, wanting more.

Within 6 months, over 25 pounds melted away as I took charge of my life again. I was eating healthier, working out 4-5 times per week, experiencing increased energy, and most importantly, had a renewed enthusiasm for life. The more I pushed myself, the more I accomplished. Each achievement further inspired me to strive for excellence in all aspects. As a result, I enrolled in Graduate School at UNCC, became an active member of my church Missions Team, accepted new challenges at work, and strived to be a better wife and friend. Muay Thai taught me the meaning of the quote “If you only do what you know you can do- you never do very much” and I’m grateful for the lesson.

Robert Keyes - After almost a year of training I’m in the best shape of my life

May 22nd, 2008 I came home from a horrible tour in Iraq, injured and with a lot of issues. For the next seven months I spent most of my time recovering at home, trying to stay in shape, and more importantly trying to stay out of trouble. On New Year’s Eve I got into a confrontation with someone outside of the club I was at and realized that I had to change. I was angry all the time, had no patience, and was gaining a lot of weight, and not being able to take it off.

Then one day I saw and advertisement for Black Belt USA while working out. I went on the website to check out the school and ended up calling and setting up my first free lesson. After my first lesson I was hooked, I found the physical and mental challenge I needed to push myself as well as the camaraderie that I enjoyed with my National Guard Unit. After almost a year of training I’m in the best shape of my life, but no matter what, Master King always has a new way to drain me physically.

In Muay Thai, I’ve found a new family in Master King, Dr. King, and all the other students at the school and a new passion in life. In addition to that all the demons that were haunting me from Iraq have finally gone away. I’m calmer than ever, I’ve become a patient person, and I’m more driven towards my goals than ever before. My family and people that have known me for years have noticed and are ecstatic and so thankful to the Kings for that.

At Black Belt USA the Kings have created a very family friendly environment and treat each student as one of their own. They push their students not only to be the best martial artists they can be but the best person they can be. I can honestly say that they have made me a better person and encourage anyone to experience what I’ve experienced here.
